Winter’s Calm

No reprieve for the tormented
Not ’til their lives have ended
Walk this plane asking when
No answer for them

Cling they to sad life’s love
Praying for light above
Like pure white doves
Without flight, hover

Every turn of Earth
Highlights the dearth
Of chivalry’s worth
The need for rebirth

Like bare trees come spring
Sun’s warmth doth bring
A chance to again begin
Smile and spread thy wings

Lest flight not come
Ye orphaned one
Jump, trip, run
Watch the gun

The barrel’s smoke
Ferociously awoke
Shall split still air
Upon that note

Doth judgement come
All our acts
Shall be undone
Before the One
